Bacary Sagna will be a free agent at the end of the season, and despite Arsenal’s desire to keep the French international, contract talks have stalled.
Arsene Wenger has, thus, urged his scouts to look for a replacement and Feyenoord full-back Daryl Janmaat is reportedly under the spotlight.
The 23-year-old has had 3 senior caps for Netherlands. Arsenal and Feyenoord have an unofficial partnership which could be exploited to acquire the defender. Tottenham and Sporting Lisbon are also in the race to sign him.
Janmaat has also scored 4 goals in the Eredivisie from 23 matches.
‘Arsenal’s interest in me? I’m only thinking about Feyenoord right now,’ Janmaat told Voetbal International.
‘Much remains to be played this season before thinking about the transfer market at the end of the season.’
Arsenal scouts spotted him around Christmas, and reports say that Wenger’s men have watched him in three more games
Sevilla’s versatile full-back, Mouhamadou Dabo, and Toulouse’s Serge Aurier are other options being considered by Arsenal.
